British taxpayers help fund £20billion EU handout to struggling Portugal

‘Fury erupted today after the EU gifted cash-strapped Portugal a £20 billion handout to help boost its crumbling economy.
Most of the money will be spent on training and education in a bid to cut rampant unemployment and revive Portuguese economic fortunes by the end of the decade.
Critics warned it means British taxpayers’ will be effectively forking out up to £2.7 billion over the next seven years to help prop up one of Europe’s basket case nations.’

Britain WILL beat cancer: PM’s £300m boost to fight killer disease

Big Pharma has no intention of 'beating cancer' – that has never been the idea for reasons I explain in my books. The money will come in handy though.

‘Britain will drive cutting-edge research as a result of a £300 million funding boost to be unveiled by the Prime Minister.
The spin-offs are likely to transform the way cancer and other life-threatening conditions are diagnosed and treated, bringing new hope to families across the country…
…The project will be overseen by Genomics England, set up by the Department of Health in partnership with Illumina, a DNA sequencing technology firm based in California.’

Care UK pay cuts made me homeless, says Doncaster striker

‘Care UK workers in Doncaster are fighting pay cuts so devastating that they have already made one woman worker homeless.
Mags Dalton has been a care worker for 26 years. But pay cuts of £400 a month mean she can’t afford her rent anymore—and will be forced to move out of the city altogether.
Mags told Socialist Worker, “I only moved into my house about a year ago. The move cost quite a lot—paying a bond, rent and hiring a van. Then Care UK took over our workplace in September, and by December they were cutting wages.’

Why the NYT’s Call For Marijuana Legalization Is a Huge Deal

Why the NYT’s Call For Marijuana Legalization Is a Huge Deal

‘The New York Times editorial board made history Sunday, as the first major national paper to call for an end to marijuana prohibition. And how they did it is half the story — with rare flash and panache, as well as the intellectual and moral substance to back it up.
The Times’ editorial has the feel of legendary CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite coming out against the Vietnam War. They dropped a bomb on our country’s disastrous war on marijuana with unprecedented force.
Some people think of the Times’ editorial page as a liberal mouthpiece — but when it comes to marijuana prohibition and the drug war, they’ve been extremely cautious and conservative. In previous decades, the Times did as much as any other media outlet to legitimize drug war hysteria and its disastrous policies.’

Just TWO UK climate committee MPs contradict IPCC: The two with science degrees

‘The UK’s Parliamentary climate change select committee has just issued a written endorsement of the latest, alarmist UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report. However, two MPs – the two most scientifically qualified on the committee – have strongly disagreed with this position.
The IPCC’s latest AR5 report takes a firmly alarmist position on carbon and climate change, predicting massively accelerated global warming and attendant sea level rises, crop failures and other global disasters unless human emissions of greenhouse gases – particularly carbon dioxide – are sharply curbed. The UK parliamentary committee report just out now firmly endorses this.
But not all the committee’s members are convinced.’

Worldwide Water Shortage by 2040?

Worldwide Water Shortage by 2040?

‘Fresh water supplies are under assault on multiple fronts. We are seeing the continuing fallout from the droughts in the Western U.S. and Brazil – both are incredibly important areas to the global food supply.
At the same time, corporate hoarding of fresh water is on the rise. Nestle’s former CEO clearly stated that water supplies should be privatized and that the right to fresh, clean water is not an essential human right.
Knowing that both the climate and corporate influence are converging to restrict and/or dramatically increase the cost of fresh water, two new reports reinforce that there isn’t much time left to find solutions. In fact, for an increasing number of people, water might not be available at any cost.’

Why are massive numbers of sea creatures dying along the west coast right now?

Why are massive numbers of sea creatures dying along the west coast right now?

‘Never before have we seen so much death along the west coast of North America.  Massive numbers of sea stars, bluefin tuna, sardines, anchovies, herring, oysters, salmon, marine mammals and marine birds are dying, and experts are puzzled.  We are being told that we could even see “local extinctions” of some of these sea creatures.  So are all of these deaths related?  If so, what in the world could be causing this to happen?  What has changed so dramatically that it would cause massive numbers of sea creatures to die along the west coast?’

Corporations And Their Military Hirelings

‘The rise of Transnational corporations (TNCs) and the consequent strangulation of smaller businesses at their birth was predicted by Vladimir Lenin in 1916: ‘Private property based on the labour of the small proprietor, free competition, democracy, i.e., all the catchwords with which the capitalists and their press deceive the workers … are things of the past … This transformation of competition into monopoly is … the most important phenonema of modern capitalist economy … monopolistic alliances of entrepreneurs, cartels and trusts arise … when the number of competing enterprises is reduced to a couple of dozen or so’.’

US wants WWIII because its big banks are insolvent: Henderson

‘An American author and columnist says the United States wants to start a third world war because most of its big banks are insolvent.
Dean Henderson with the Veterans Today made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Monday as he commented on recent remarks made by White House Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications Ben Rhodes who said “stronger” European sanctions “are on the table” against Russia.
“That is just more aggression from the United States and from Anglo-Israeli-US bankers alliance which seems to be just trying every angle to provoke Russians to the World War III because all the big banks are insolvent,” Henderson told Press TV.’

US Court Ends Private Property Rights: All Water To Be Controlled By Government

Agenda 21, Agenda 21, Agenda 21 …

‘Democrat Senator Fran Pavley has a bill that would give the State the responsibility of “managing” all groundwater. That means the water projects and the groundwater will be controlled by government—which will pick the winners and loser. Government will decide if you can use your private property—water—to grow your crops or be forced at the barrel of a gun give your water to your neighbor that paid nothing for the well you dug and now he will use. Want to collapse agriculture in this State literally overnight, give control of water to government.’

Don’t waste your money on organic food: Government says frozen vegetables are just as nutritious

‘Cash-strapped families should not waste their money on organic food because they think it is healthier, the government has warned.
Shoppers should instead spend their money on whatever they can afford, even if it means eating tinned or frozen vegetables which are in no way ‘nutritionally inferior’.
The government now faces calls to end £20million of subsidies to organic farming, which owes ‘more to myth than evidence’.’

Multi-billion pound UK governmentt IT contract ‘out of control’ – report

‘A £10.4 billion government IT contract has spiralled “out of control,” with private contractors reaping more than £1 billion in profits at the behest of British taxpayers.
In a highly critical report, the National Audit Office (NAO) said that the Aspire contract, designed to streamline government IT services, went drastically over budget after civil servants commissioned more work than expected.
The contract – led by services conglomerate Capgemini, along with IT firms such as Fujitsu – has now cost the government double the amount it originally expected, jumping from £4.1 billion (US$6.9 billion) to £10.4 billion ($17.7 billion) since it began in 2004.’

Russia threatens to hit British companies in ‘retaliation’ for sanctions

‘Russia has issued a threat to seize the assets of British companies including BP and Shell as a retaliation against David Cameron’s demand for tough sanctions.
In a mounting war of words, a senior diplomatic source claimed Moscow would “fight back” against any industry-wide EU sanctions by putting British companies working in Russia oil on the frontline.
“We want friendly relations. We will go along as far as we can. Then we will retaliate,” the figure said.’

The Trans-Pacific Partnership and ‘Police Militarization’: The Coming Calamity, The Coming Resistance

‘We can further see that there is a war on the underclass in the form of police militarization as a study in 1997 found that SWAT teams “were characterized by the deployment of military special operation weapons, such as Heckler and Koch MP5 submachine guns, diversionary devices, and the wearing of tactical body armor and camouflage uniforms” and that often those resources were used “in daily and routine policing activities against the urban underclass.”
One can even go so far as to say that “the use of special weapons, military tactics, and the wearing of combat style uniforms in the course of routine urban policing by street-level law enforcement officers would suggest that they are engaged in an actual urban war with the enemy being the urban underclass.”[32]
This increased cooperation between the police and military should have us wonder: What exactly is the Pentagon up to?’

Michigan Dept of Agri Forces Farmer to Dump 248 Gallons of Organic Milk and Break 1200 Free Range Eggs

‘While Americans in the nearby city of Detroit face life in third world conditions, unable to even afford running water, the state of Michigan decided to direct its resources towards cracking down on a small food co-op in Standish for having the utter audacity to provide milk, butter, cream and eggs to people who bought shares in the organic dairy.
The Michigan Department of Agriculture must be so proud of their deeds, after they forced Joe and Brenda Golimbieski, the owners of Hill High Dairy and Jenny Samuelson, the owner of My Family Co-op, to dump out 248 gallons of milk, to break 100 dozen eggs, and to destroy an undisclosed amount of fresh cream, butter and cheese.’
