‘Finland’s largest airport will be the first in the world to track passengers’ movements in real-time – from the car park to the departure gate.

Dozens of sensors throughout Helsinki Airport will automatically pinpoint the location of mobile phones with wifi setting turned on – as part of a plan that is drawing criticism from privacy advocates.

The system, which aims to monitor crowds and eliminate bottlenecks at security checkpoints or shopping areas, will send alerts to passengers if their departure times or gates change.’

‘The power to “censor history” should not be left in Google’s hands, Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales warned, after the search engine giant revealed it had approved over 90,000 so-called ‘right to be forgotten’ requests.

Wales said a European Court ruling allowing people to have links scrubbed from the search engine’s index was “open-ended.” He further slammed the law for being unclear.

“The law as it stands right now is quite confusing. We have this one ruling of the ECJ (European Court of Justice) which is very open-ended and very hard to interpret,” he told BBC Radio 4′s Today program.’

Plans to build 194 wind turbines, each up to 650ft high, off the coast of Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have prompted widespread opposition from people who fear they will ruin magnificent views and damage tourism across much of what has come to be known as the Jurassic Coast.’

The Rothschilds typically operate behind the scenes. In the case of Israel, the Rothschilds engineered WWI and waited until 1917 when Britain was in trouble. The Rothschilds then promised the British Government that they could get the US to enter WWI (on the side of Britain) and thus ensure Britain’s victory of Germany et al. However, they wanted something in return: Palestine. Thus the Balfour Declaration was created, which is an official letter from the British Government Foreign Secretary James Balfour to Baron Rothschild. It states that: ” His Majesty’s government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object.”’

‘Yesterday afternoon, I happened to read a seemingly innocuous enough article in Time by Justin Lynch titled: Bloggers, Surveillance and Obama’s Orwellian State. The article covered the usual bases. Such as the fact the Obama Administration is the least transparent ever, how it has attacked whistleblowers and journalists more than all other Presidents combined, and how citizen journalists pose a threat to the corrupt and dying status quo. All things that we already know.

One of the people quoted in the article is Pentagon correspondent for the New York Times, Thom Shanker, who proudly noted “his employer has implemented rigorous standards to balance the security risks of reporting classified information with the public’s right to know.”’

‘Twitter has long been the go-to platform for customers to vent their fury at bad customer service, and usually a complaint on social media will lead to a swift apology if nothing else.

But not for Minneapolis man Duff Watson, who says he and his two children were ejected from their flight for a tweet criticising Southwest Airlines’ service.

The father of two, who is an A-list member of the airline, tweeted his disappointment in the airline when his children, aged nine and six, were denied priority boarding alongside him for the flight from Denver to Washington.’

‘Every driver in a crash will have their mobile seized in a bid to cut deaths caused by phoning and texting at the wheel.

Police have been ordered to check if motorists broke the law by using their phones in the moments before any accident.

The move is likely to see mobiles being taken away by officers as evidence in prosecutions.’

‘Apple is preparing to launch an ‘iWallet’ app allowing customers to easily for with theit mobile phone, it has been claimed.

The project is believed the already have Visa on board, and is expected to use the firm’s Touch ID fingerprint sensor to verify a customer’s identity.

The app could launch in the Autumn alongside Apple’s new iPhone 6.’

‘A £10.4 billion government IT contract has spiralled “out of control,” with private contractors reaping more than £1 billion in profits at the behest of British taxpayers.

In a highly critical report, the National Audit Office (NAO) said that the Aspire contract, designed to streamline government IT services, went drastically over budget after civil servants commissioned more work than expected.

The contract – led by services conglomerate Capgemini, along with IT firms such as Fujitsu – has now cost the government double the amount it originally expected, jumping from £4.1 billion (US$6.9 billion) to £10.4 billion ($17.7 billion) since it began in 2004.’

‘Forensic scientist and author Jonathan Zdziarski has posted the slides (PDF) from his talk at the Hackers On Planet Earth (HOPE/X) conference in New York called Identifying Backdoors, Attack Points, and Surveillance Mechanisms in iOS Devices.

The HOPE conference started in 1994 and bills itself as “one of the most creative and diverse hacker events in the world.”

Zdziarski, better known as the hacker “NerveGas” in the iPhone development community, worked as dev-team member on many of the early iOS jailbreaks and is the author of five iOS-related O’Reilly books including “Hacking and Securing iOS Applications.”‘

‘The scheme was eventually binned in August last year after delivering “significantly less than planned”, despite racking up a whopping £347m in costs.

But the Home Office has another scheme up its sleeve which it insists will have a more agile approach.

“A new Immigration Platform Technologies programme is replacing ICW and is trialling an agile approach, focusing on incremental improvements,” it said. “It still has far to go to have a significant impact and will cost £209m over four years.”‘

‘A fracking firm’s plans to explore for shale oil in West Sussex have been unanimously rejected by the council, in a blow to government hopes of a UK shale boom.

Celtique Energie had been seeking permission to drill through shale rocks near the village of Wisborough Green. If it found oil, it would have then sought permission to frack at the site to extract it.

But West Sussex council threw out the drilling application on Tuesday, amid fierce local opposition to the prospect of lorries passing through the tranquil village 24 times a day.’

‘Verizon Wireless is launching a rewards program this week for subscribers who consent to having their everyday movements tracked.

The program, called Smart Rewards, offers gift cards and travel deals to subscribers who surrender their web surfing, app usage and location data in exchange for targeted advertisements based on that personal information through the Verizon Selects tracking program.

“To make marketing messages more relevant, Verizon will analyze the information described above to identify you as part of a group of people a marketer is trying to reach,” the terms and conditions for Verizon Selects state.’
