West Sussex is under threat. Fracking company Celtique Energie has two applications to drill in and around the South Downs National Park. And this is just the start.

But the good news is that we’ve already managed to delay both applications through thousands of objections. And now a local anti-fracking group is calling for all of West Sussex to be declared Frack-Free.

The local residents' group Keep Kirdford and Wisborough ‘Green’ have set up a petition on the council's website. Please support them by adding your name.

Sign the petition for a Frack-Free West Sussex

West Sussex sits on shale rock formations, which could hold significant resources of shale oil. And fracking companies are keen to exploit these resources. But if drilling goes ahead, it could put more pressure on local water supplies, increase traffic in the local lanes and threaten protected wildlife, such as bats and songbirds. And that’s before we’ve even mentioned the impacts on climate change.

We have less than two weeks to gather 3,000 signatures from anyone who lives, works or studies in West Sussex. If we reach 3,000 names the County Council will have to debate the petition at full Cabinet.
